Textiles, Art & Design

A subject close to my heart.  I love fabrics, not just any fabric, but fabrics that will allow me to experiment with colour and textures.  The kind of fabrics that will allow me to bring out the best out of them, what an excitement!!!   I'm talking about printing, dyeing, weaving, manipulating, crotchet, knits, embellishment, and other surface design techniques; that is the excitement!!!

Splashes of vibrant colours in beautiful designed fabrics bring uniqueness to a garment.  Nothing gives me pleasure than creating fabrics for my garments. A creation that starts with a spark of a thought, then building that thought and eventually bringing to life, is so exciting. I love experimenting with different fabrics, yarns, colours and techniques.
Below are just a few images of the many great fashion and textile designers who inspire me.

Comme des Garçons - 'pick n mix' s/s 2011/10

Comme des Garcons, one of my other favourite designer, and the likes of Kenzo, Etro, Pucci, and Larcroix, just melt me! When I look at these designers work, its almost like they are not thinking, and that's exactly what I like about them, sheer Madness!! I have lots more designers that I really like, but the ones I have mentioned just complete me.

This time, I have just selected a few of my favourite outfits that I like from Comme des Garcons, spring summer 2011 and ss 2010.

"Rei Kawakubo is held in such awe and esteem as fashion's leading conceptualist—and so well known as a woman of few words—that most people wouldn't dare imagine her having a sense of humor". ....... and I thought I was the only shy designer on planet earth (snap Rei!)
